Biography
Joonee Gamboa is a Filipino actor. Born Jose Espineli Gamboa Jr. on 7 August 1936 in Manila, he began his career as a stage actor appearing in productions by the Philippine Educational Theater Association. Director Lino Brocka encouraged him to enter film, and he is a founding member of the Theater Workers Guild.
Gamboa has appeared in more than 145 films and television series. His credits include Manila in the Claws of Light (1975) as Omeng, Burlesk Queen (1977), for which he received the Best Supporting Actor award at the 1977 Metro Manila Film Festival, Enter the Ninja (1981), The Year of Living Dangerously (1982) and Brokedown Palace (1999). He has also worked as a voice actor.
