Biography

Jordan Dykstra (born 1985) is an American composer and violist based in Brooklyn, New York. He holds a BFA from the California Institute of the Arts (2016) and an MA in experimental composition from Wesleyan University (2018), and completed an MFA in media scoring at the Feirstein School of Cinema in 2021. He has also studied privately with composers including Daníel Bjarnason and Alvin Lucier.

Dykstra composed the original score for the documentary 20 Days in Mariupol (2023). His other film credits include Blow the Man Down (2019), Hail Satan? (2019), Fair Play (2023, where he also helped produce and conduct the score) and It Comes at Night (2017, music department). He has contributed scores to several Frontline documentaries and maintains an active practice as a composer of chamber and concert music.
