Biography
Jorge Puerta Armenta is a Colombian dancer and actor. He was born in Bogotá in 1971.
He trained at the Centre National de la Danse Contemporaine in Angers, France, and later with the Folkwang Dance Studio in Essen. In 1997 he joined Pina Bausch’s Tanztheater Wuppertal, where he remained until 2014, appearing in numerous repertoire pieces and contributing to eight new productions. He is credited as a dancer in Pedro Almodóvar’s Talk to Her (2002) and as Self in Wim Wenders’ Pina (2011).
Since 2014 he has worked as a freelance choreographer and dancer, and has restaged several of Pina Bausch’s works for companies including the Paris Opera and English National Ballet. He also teaches and coaches young artists.
