Biography
Joseph Karimbeik, also credited as Hossein Karimbeik, is an actor, theatre director, film director and writer. Born in Tehran, Iran, he immigrated to the United Kingdom in 1975. He graduated from the London Drama Centre in 1980 and later obtained a master of filmmaking from West London University and Met Film, and an MA in theatre directing from the University of the Arts London.
He appeared in several British and American productions in the 1980s, including the Lugash secret policeman in Curse of the Pink Panther (1983), Raschid in Mona Lisa (1986), and Colonel Hassan Ali in Half Moon Street (1986). He played Hossein in Brothers (2004) and guest roles in television series such as Cold Warrior (1984).
Karimbeik founded his own theatre company and has directed stage productions including Hedda Gabler and Miss Julie. Since the mid-2010s he has written and directed independent short films such as London Gangstah (2016).
