Biography

Joseph T. Garrity, also credited as Joe Garrity, is an American production designer. He studied film at Temple University in Philadelphia before attending the American Film Institute Conservatory in 1979. He began his career in low-budget films and art direction before moving into production design.

Garrity has worked extensively with director Christopher Guest on mockumentaries including Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show (2000) and A Mighty Wind, as well as the HBO series Family Tree (2013). Other credits include My Girl (1991), Not Another Teen Movie (2001), Sunshine Cleaning (2008) and I Still Believe (2020). He heads the production design department at the AFI Conservatory.
