Biography
Josh Heald is an American screenwriter, director and producer. He was born on 12 December 1977 in Red Bank, New Jersey, and studied finance at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School. After working briefly in finance, he moved to Los Angeles and began writing screenplays with college friends Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg.
Heald is best known for his work on the series Cobra Kai (2018–2025), which he co-created with Hurwitz and Schlossberg; he has also written and directed episodes and served as showrunner. His other credits include the screenplay for Hot Tub Time Machine (2010) and its sequel, as well as writing Mardi Gras: Spring Break (2011) and co-creating the series Obliterated (2023). He received a Primetime Emmy nomination for his work on Cobra Kai.
