Biography
Josh Penn is a film and television producer. He produced Beasts of the Southern Wild (2012), which premiered at Sundance, won the Grand Jury Prize there and the Caméra d'Or at Cannes, and received four Academy Award nominations including Best Picture.
Penn has produced or executive produced numerous independent films that have premiered at Sundance, including Monsters and Men (2018), Wendy (2020) and Farewell Amor (2020). He has also worked on documentaries and series such as Philly D.A. He co-founded the Department of Motion Pictures and in 2026 launched the production company Serenade. He received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture and a Producers Guild of America nomination for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures for Beasts of the Southern Wild.
