Biography

Joshua L. Pearson is an American documentary editor. He is best known for his work on the Academy Award-winning film Summer of Soul (...Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised) (2021) and the Academy Award-nominated What Happened, Miss Simone? (2015).

Pearson graduated with a BFA in Painting from Rhode Island School of Design in 1986. In the 1990s he co-founded the video art group Emergency Broadcast Network, which toured with Lollapalooza and created projections for U2’s Zooropa tour. He later became a documentary editor at New York-based companies including RadicalMedia.

His other credits include Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes (2019), Whitey: United States of America v. James J. Bulger (2014), Shrek the Musical (2013) and Rent: Filmed Live on Broadway (2008). He has received three Primetime Emmy nominations.
