Biography
Joy N. Houck Jr. was an American actor, director and screenwriter. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and began working in film in the 1960s. His father, Joy N. Houck Sr., founded the low-budget production and distribution company Howco.
Houck directed several films, including Night of Bloody Horror (1969), The Brain Machine (1972), Night of the Strangler (1975), Creature from Black Lake (1976) and The St. Tammany Miracle (1994). As an actor he appeared in Down by Law (1986) as Detective Mandino, The Big Easy (1986) as Sgt. Guerra and The Hidden (1987). He also wrote screenplays and worked in other production roles.
