Biography

Joy Page (born Joy Cerrette Paige, 9 November 1924 – 18 April 2008) was an American actress. She is best known for her role as the Bulgarian refugee Annina Brandel in Casablanca (1942).

The daughter of silent-film actor Don Alvarado and Ann Boyar, Page became stepdaughter of Warner Bros. studio head Jack L. Warner after her mother remarried in 1936. She secured the part in Casablanca at seventeen, while still at Beverly Hills High School, through her acting coach rather than family influence. Warner did not offer her a studio contract.

Page appeared in other films including Kismet (1944) and Tonka (1958), in which she played Prairie Flower, and made television appearances before retiring in 1959. She was married to actor and producer William T. Orr from 1945 until their divorce in 1970; their son Gregory Orr became a screenwriter and producer.
