Biography
Joyce Redman (7 December 1915 – 9 May 2012) was an Anglo-Irish actress. She trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, graduating in 1936, and worked primarily on stage from the late 1930s, appearing with companies including the Old Vic and the National Theatre, as well as at Stratford-upon-Avon and in New York.
Her film roles included Jet van Dieren in One of Our Aircraft Is Missing (1942) and Mrs. Waters in Tom Jones (1963), for which she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She was nominated again in the same category for her performance as Emilia in Othello (1965). Later screen work included the television film Les Misérables (1978) and episodes of Tales of the Unexpected.
Redman was married to Charles Ivor Wynne-Roberts from 1949 until his death in 1992; they had three children.
