Biography
Juan Esplandiu was a Spanish actor, costume designer and production designer. He appeared in uncredited roles in two early films directed by Luis Buñuel: as a stroller in the surrealist short Un Chien Andalou (1929) and as a bandit in L'Âge d'or (1930).
He later received a credited acting part in María Fernanda, la Jerezana (1947). Esplandiu worked as costume designer on Surcos (1951) and as production designer on El andén (1957). He was born in 1901 and died on 3 December 1978 in Madrid.
