Biography
Jules Cowles was an American actor. Born on 17 October 1877 in Farmington, Connecticut, he attended Yale University and performed for five years in a Shakespearean repertory company with Augustin Daly before entering films. He was also credited as Ed Cowles, J. D. Cowles and Julius D. Cowles, and worked as a writer.
Cowles appeared in over 100 films between the 1910s and 1940s, often in supporting or uncredited roles. He is noted for his performances in Seven Chances (1925) as The Hired Hand, The Lost World (1925) as Zambo, Fury (1936) as Frank (uncredited), Mrs. Miniver (1942) as Man at Flower Show (uncredited) and Woman of the Year (1942) as Joe (uncredited). He died on 22 May 1943 in Hollywood, California.
