Biography
Julia Foster is an English actress. Born on 2 August 1943 in Lewes, Sussex, she began her screen career in the early 1960s with roles in The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner (1962) and Alfie (1966), in which she played Gilda.
Her film credits also include The Bargee (1964), Half a Sixpence (1967) and Percy (1971). On television she starred in the BBC production of Moll Flanders (1975), appeared in Wilde Alliance (1978) and played Queen Margaret in the BBC Shakespeare adaptations of Henry VI and Richard III (1983). Later roles include Dad's Army (2016) and an episode of Doctor Who (2020).
Foster's first husband was Lionel Morton, formerly of the pop group The Four Pennies. She is married to veterinarian Bruce Fogle and is the mother of television presenter Ben Fogle. She has also run an antique furniture business specialising in Scandinavian pieces.
