Biography

Juliane Köhler is a German theatre, television and film actress. She was born on 6 August 1965 in Göttingen. Between 1985 and 1988 she studied acting under Uta Hagen in New York City and attended HB Studio; she also received ballet instruction in Munich.

She made her stage debut in 1988 at Hanover's Lower Saxon State Theatre and later performed with the Bavarian State Theatre (1993–1997) and the Munich Kammerspiele. Her film roles include Lilly Wust in Aimée & Jaguar (1999), Jettel Redlich in Nowhere in Africa (2001) and Eva Braun in Downfall (2004). She received a Silver Bear for Best Actress at the 1999 Berlin International Film Festival for Aimée & Jaguar.
