Biography
Julien Carbon is a French screenwriter, director and actor based in Hong Kong. He has frequently collaborated with Laurent Courtiaud on screenplays and films.
Carbon began as a classical musician, journalist and film critic. In the 1990s the pair moved to Hong Kong, sold a screenplay to Tsui Hark and joined Film Workshop. They co-wrote Running Out of Time (1999) with Yau Nai-hoi for Johnnie To. Carbon also contributed to the screenplay of The Touch (2002) and the story of Black Mask 2: City of Masks (2002).
In 2007 Carbon and Courtiaud founded Red East Pictures. They directed the short Betrayal (2011) and the feature Red Nights (2010). Carbon appeared uncredited as a French tourist in In the Mood for Love (2000).
