Biography
Julius W. Harris (1923–2004) was an American actor whose career spanned four decades in film and television. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he served as a medic in the US Army during the Second World War and later worked as a nurse and bouncer in New York City jazz clubs before entering acting.
Harris made his screen debut in Nothing But a Man (1964). He appeared in numerous blaxploitation films of the 1970s, including Super Fly (1972), Black Caesar (1973) and Hell Up in Harlem (1973), and played the steel-armed villain Tee Hee in the James Bond film Live and Let Die (1973). Other notable film roles include Inspector Daniels in The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974) and Boan in King Kong (1976). He also had guest roles in television series such as ER and The Golden Girls.
Harris was a member of the Negro Ensemble Company and appeared on Broadway in No Place to Be Somebody. He died of heart failure in Woodland Hills, California, on 17 October 2004.
