Biography
June Knight, born Margaret Rose Valliquietto, was an American actress, singer and dancer. She was born in Los Angeles on 22 January 1913 and died there on 16 June 1987. Due to early health problems including polio, she was unable to walk until the age of five but began performing songs and dances publicly at the age of ten.
She adopted the stage name June Knight after partnering with dancer John Holland. Knight appeared in the final Ziegfeld Follies production, Hot-Cha! (1932), and in four further Broadway shows: Take a Chance (1932), Jubilee (1935, in which she introduced the Cole Porter song "Begin the Beguine"), The Would-Be Gentleman (1946) and Sweethearts (1947). Her film career, spanning twelve pictures from 1930 to 1940, included the role of Lillian Brent in Broadway Melody of 1936 (1935), in which she sang "I've Got a Feelin' You're Foolin'" with Robert Taylor. She received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960.
