Biography

Jürgen Jürges is a German cinematographer. Born on 12 December 1940 in Hannover, he trained at a photography school in Berlin and worked as a camera assistant in the 1960s before becoming a chief cameraman in 1970.

He has contributed to more than 100 films. His credits include Ali: Fear Eats the Soul (1974), Effi Briest (1974), Christiane F. (1981), Funny Games (1997), Code Unknown (2000), Time of the Wolf (2003) and the DAU series.

Jürges has received awards including the German Film Award (multiple times), the German Camera Award and the Silver Bear for Outstanding Artistic Contribution at the 2020 Berlinale for DAU. Natasha. In 2022 he was awarded an honorary prize for services to German film.
