Biography
Justin Marks (born 1980) is an American screenwriter, producer and television showrunner. He graduated from Columbia University in 2002 after studying architecture.
Marks wrote the screenplay for the live-action The Jungle Book (2016), directed by Jon Favreau. He received a story credit, shared with Peter Craig, on Top Gun: Maverick (2022). He created and served as showrunner on the series Counterpart (2017–2019) and, with his wife Rachel Kondo, created and showran the 2024 adaptation Shōgun.
His earlier credits include the screenplay for Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (2009). He was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for Top Gun: Maverick.
