Biography
Kaouther Ben Hania is a Tunisian film director and screenwriter. She was born on 27 August 1977 in Sidi Bouzid, Tunisia. She studied at the Ecole des Arts et du Cinéma in Tunisia, then at La Fémis and the Sorbonne in Paris.
Her feature films include Beauty and the Dogs (2017), The Man Who Sold His Skin (2020), Four Daughters (2023) and The Voice of Hind Rajab (2025). She also wrote the last three of these. The Man Who Sold His Skin and The Voice of Hind Rajab were nominated for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film; Four Daughters was nominated for Best Documentary Feature.
Ben Hania began her career with short films and documentaries in the 2000s and 2010s.
