Biography
Kappei Yamaguchi (born Mitsuo Yamaguchi, 23 May 1965) is a Japanese voice actor, actor and rakugoka from Fukuoka. He trained at Tokyo Announce University College after moving to the capital in 1984, and began his career in stage work with the 21st Century Fox theatre company before moving into voice acting.
Yamaguchi made his voice-acting debut in 1989 as the male Ranma Saotome in Ranma ½. He is known for long-running roles including Usopp in One Piece (1999–), L in Death Note (2006), InuYasha in InuYasha (2000–), and Shinichi Kudo and Kaito Kid in Case Closed (Detective Conan). He also voiced Tombo in the Studio Ghibli film Kiki's Delivery Service (1989).
He established his own agency, Gokū, and has worked in anime, video games, foreign-film dubbing and live-action. Yamaguchi has received seiyū awards and continues to appear in new productions.
