Biography
Karen Ludwig is an American actress, director and teacher. Born on 9 October 1942 in San Francisco, she attended San Francisco State College before moving to New York in 1963. She trained at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre and studied with Uta Hagen.
Her stage work includes Broadway appearances in The Devils (1965), The Bacchae (1980), Broadway Bound (1986) and Prelude to a Kiss (1990). She was a member of André Gregory’s Manhattan Project company. Ludwig’s film roles include Connie in Manhattan (1979), Melissa in Stanley & Iris (1990), Operator Margaret in Thirteen Days (2000) and Mrs Rose in That Awkward Moment (2014). Television credits encompass episodes of Law & Order, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, ER, Party of Five and Elementary (2012). She has also directed the two-part video Uta Hagen’s Acting Class.
