Biography
Karen Moncrieff is an American director, screenwriter and former actress. Born on 20 December 1963 in Sacramento, California, she studied performance at Northwestern University before beginning her career as an actress in daytime soap operas, including roles in Days of Our Lives and Santa Barbara. In 1985 she was crowned Miss Illinois and competed in the Miss America pageant.
After completing a film studies certificate at Los Angeles City College, Moncrieff received the Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting in 1998. Her feature directorial debut was Blue Car (2002), which she also wrote. Subsequent credits include directing and writing The Dead Girl (2006) and The Trials of Cate McCall (2013), as well as episodes of television series such as Six Feet Under (2003) and 13 Reasons Why (2017–2018).
