Biography
Kate Gersten is a writer and producer. She was born and raised in Tribeca, New York, and trained at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television and the Lila Acheson Wallace Playwrights Program at Juilliard.
She has written for television series including Mozart in the Jungle (2014–2016), The Good Place (2017–2019), Schmigadoon! (2021), Lost Ollie (2022) and Up Here (2023). Her feature debut, the screenplay for The Last Showgirl (2024), was adapted from her own play. She has also worked as a producer on several of these projects.
Gersten is a playwright whose works include Benefit of the Doubt and Be Your Best Friend. She has received nominations from the Writers Guild of America and a Children's & Family Emmy Award.
