Biography
Katharine Blake (born Illonne Katharine Inglestone, 11 September 1921 – 1 March 1991) was a South African-born British actress. She appeared in films including Hunted (1952) as a waitress and Anne of the Thousand Days (1969) as Elizabeth Boleyn.
Blake had an extensive career in British television, with roles in series such as The Avengers, Armchair Theatre and Public Eye. She won the BAFTA Television Award for Best Actress in 1964. In 1977 she replaced Googie Withers as the prison governor Helen Forrester in Within These Walls, appearing for one season before leaving due to ill health. She was married three times, to actors Anthony Jacobs and David Greene, and to director Charles Jarrott.
