Biography
Katherine Kath (born Rose Marie Lily Faess) was a French actress. She trained as a ballerina and was a prima ballerina at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris for ten years before an ankle injury ended her dancing career and led her to acting.
She appeared in international films and television from the late 1940s to the 1980s. Her film roles include Louise Weber (La Goulue) in Moulin Rouge (1952), Maxime in Anastasia (1956), Hilda in Circus World (1964), Mme. Lucoville in The Assassination Bureau (1969) and Catherine de Medici in Mary, Queen of Scots (1971). On television she played Engadine in an episode of The Prisoner (1967).
She met British director Jack Clayton while working on Moulin Rouge, where he was assistant director, and they married in 1953; the marriage was short-lived.
