Biography
Kathleen Burke (5 September 1913 – 9 April 1980) was an American actress. Born in Hammond, Indiana, she worked as a fashion model and radio actress in Chicago before winning a Paramount Pictures talent contest from around 60,000 entrants to play Lota the Panther Woman in Island of Lost Souls (1932).
Her film career in the 1930s included roles in Murders in the Zoo (1933), The Merry Widow (1934), The Lives of a Bengal Lancer (1935) as Tania Volkanskaya, and The Last Outpost (1935). She appeared in around twenty films before retiring from screen acting in 1938. In the early 1940s she performed in summer theatre productions.
