Biography

Katrin Gebbe is a German film director and screenwriter. She studied liberal arts and visual communication at the Academy of Visual Arts in Enschede, Netherlands, and completed postgraduate studies in directing at the Hamburg Media School.

Her feature debut Nothing Bad Can Happen (2013, also known as Tore tanzt) premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival. She later directed Pelican Blood (2019) and a segment of the anthology The Field Guide to Evil (2018). Gebbe has directed episodes of the series Tatort (2016) and served as lead director on the Netflix series The Empress (2022). She directed three episodes of the second series of A Thousand Blows (2026).
