Biography
Kaui Hart Hemmings is an American writer. She was born and raised in Hawaii and attended Punahou School, graduating in 1994. She graduated from Colorado College in 1998 and earned an MFA from Sarah Lawrence College in 2002. She was a Stegner Fellow at Stanford University in 2002.
Hemmings is best known for her 2007 novel The Descendants, a New York Times bestseller published in 22 countries and adapted into the 2011 film of the same name. She also appeared in the film as Matt's Secretary Noe. Her other works include the short story collection House of Thieves (2005), the novels The Possibilities (2014), How to Party With an Infant (2016) and Testimony from Your Perfect Girl (2019), and the young adult novel Juniors (2015).
