Biography

Keith Barron (1934–2017) was an English actor who appeared in films and on television from 1961 until 2017. Born in Mexborough, South Yorkshire, he began his career at the Sheffield Repertory Theatre after national service in the Royal Air Force.

He became known for his role as Detective Sergeant Swift in the police drama The Odd Man and its spin-off, and for playing Gregory Wilmot in Upstairs, Downstairs. Barron starred as David Pearce in the Yorkshire Television sitcom Duty Free (1984–1986) and appeared as Tim Hart in the 1979 series Telford's Change.

Other notable television roles included appearances in Doctor Who, Midsomer Murders, Foyle's War, A Touch of Frost and Casualty. He was married to stage designer Mary Pickard from 1959 until his death; their son Jamie is also an actor.
