Biography
Keith Charles (1934–2008) was an American actor whose career spanned theatre and television. Born in San Francisco, he appeared on Broadway, originating the role of Potemkin in the musical Celebration (1969), and took other stage roles including in Applause and Happy Birthday, Wanda June. He also performed off-Broadway and in regional theatre.
On television he had recurring parts in eight soap operas, among them multiple roles on Guiding Light and As the World Turns, and guest appearances on series such as Law & Order, Remington Steele, Newhart, Cannon and Dallas. His film credits include Longtime Companion (1989) as Martin, Drop Dead Fred (1991) as Murray, and The Royal Tenenbaums (2001) as Royal's lawyer. He was married to composer Nancy Ford from 1964 until his death from lung cancer in New York City.
