Biography

Ken Mitsuda (29 April 1902 – 28 November 1997) was a Japanese actor. He appeared in more than fifty films between 1940 and 1983, often in supporting roles.

He played Prime Minister Fujiwara in Kenji Mizoguchi’s Sansho the Bailiff (1954). Other notable film credits include Genpaku Amano in Akira Kurosawa’s Red Beard (1965), Public Corporation President Arimura in The Bad Sleep Well (1960), Judge Araki in I Live in Fear (1955), and Teruyan in The Ballad of Narayama (1958).

Mitsuda was a founding member of the Bungakuza theatre company and remained active on stage until late in his career.
