Biography
Ken Nolan is an American screenwriter and novelist. Born in Detroit, he was raised in Buffalo, New York, and Portland, Oregon, and studied English at the University of Oregon. He moved to Los Angeles in the early 1990s to pursue screenwriting, selling spec scripts before his first produced credit.
Nolan received sole screenplay credit for the 2001 film Black Hawk Down, an adaptation of Mark Bowden’s book directed by Ridley Scott, despite contributions from other writers. He later wrote the teleplay for the 2007 miniseries The Company, for which he received a Writers Guild of America Award. His other credits include Only the Brave (2017), Transformers: The Last Knight (2017), and The Amateur (2025). He has also published the novel The Spawn (2015).
