Biography
Ken Riddington (1922–2014) was an English television producer who worked predominantly in BBC drama from the 1970s. Born in Leicester, he began his career as a stage actor before moving into backstage roles, including stage manager at the Adelphi Theatre from 1950 and company manager at the London Palladium and Palace Theatres. He joined the BBC as a floor manager in the early 1970s and later became a producer.
Riddington produced several notable BBC series and serials, including Anna Karenina (1977), Tenko (1981–1984), A Very Peculiar Practice (1986–1988) and The House of Eliott (1991). He is best known for the political thriller trilogy adapted by Andrew Davies from Michael Dobbs’s novels: House of Cards (1990), To Play the King (1993) and The Final Cut (1995). He was married to Elizabeth Chambers and died in London.
