Biography
Kenneth MacKenna (born Leo Mielziner Jr., 19 August 1899 – 15 January 1962) was an American actor and film director. He began his career on the Broadway stage in the 1920s, appearing in productions including Opportunity (1920) and later revivals of Macbeth and Othello. He also directed stage plays.
MacKenna moved into films in the late 1920s, acting in titles such as Men Without Women (1930) and directing several features for Fox in the early 1930s. He later worked as a story editor and department head at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. He returned to acting in the late 1950s, with roles in High Time (1960) and on television series including Alfred Hitchcock Presents.
His final screen appearance was as Judge Kenneth Norris in Judgment at Nuremberg (1961). He was married to actresses Kay Francis and Mary Philips, and was the brother of stage designer Jo Mielziner.
