Biography

Kenny Vance (born Kenneth Rosenberg) is an American composer, music supervisor, singer and actor. Born in New York City on 9 December 1943, he was a founding member of the doo-wop group Jay and the Americans and later worked extensively in film and television music.

He served as music supervisor on films including The Warriors (1979), Eddie and the Cruisers (1983) and American Hot Wax (1978), and composed the title song and additional music for Hairspray (1988). Vance also acted in several Woody Allen films, appearing as a television producer in Manhattan (1979). He was musical director for Saturday Night Live in 1980–1981.
