Biography
Kenya Barris is an American film and television writer, producer and director. He was born on 9 August 1974 in Inglewood, California, and attended Clark Atlanta University. He began his career writing for television in the late 1990s.
Barris created the ABC sitcom black-ish (2014–2022) and its spin-offs grown-ish (2018–) and mixed-ish (2019–2021). His film writing credits include Girls Trip (2017), Shaft (2019), Roald Dahl's The Witches (2020), Coming 2 America (2021) and You People (2023), which he also directed.
