Biography
Kevin Bankston is an American attorney who specialises in free speech and privacy law. He has appeared as himself in documentaries, including as the attorney representing Carolyn Jewel in Laura Poitras's Citizenfour (2014).
Bankston spent nearly a decade at the Electronic Frontier Foundation as a senior staff attorney, litigating cases on government surveillance. His court arguments against the NSA's warrantless wiretapping programme were featured in Citizenfour. He has also appeared as himself in Stare Into the Lights My Pretties (2017) and other television programmes.
