Biography
Kevin Willmott is an American screenwriter, director and film professor. He grew up in Junction City, Kansas, and holds a BA in Drama from Marymount College and an MFA in Dramatic Writing from New York University.
Willmott is known for films including C.S.A.: The Confederate States of America (2005), which he wrote and directed, Chi-Raq (2015), BlacKkKlansman (2018) and Da 5 Bloods (2020). He has frequently collaborated with Spike Lee. In 2019 he shared the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for BlacKkKlansman. He is a professor of film at the University of Kansas.
