Biography
Khigh Dhiegh (born Kenneth Dickerson) was an American character actor. He is best known for playing Dr. Yen Lo in the film The Manchurian Candidate (1962) and Davalo in Seconds (1966). He also portrayed the recurring villain Wo Fat in the television series Hawaii Five-O from 1968 to 1980, and appeared as Four Finger Wu in the 1988 miniseries Noble House.
Born on 25 August 1910 in Spring Lake, New Jersey, Dhiegh was of mixed ancestry and was frequently cast in East Asian roles despite this. He received an Obie Award for his performance in the 1961 Broadway production of Jungle of Cities. Other credits include roles in Mission: Impossible, Kung Fu and The Wild Wild West.
In addition to acting, Dhiegh was a Taoist philosopher and author. He wrote books on the subject, including The Eleventh Wing, founded the Taoist Sanctuary in Los Angeles and later served as rector of a sanctuary in Tempe, Arizona. He died on 25 October 1991 in Mesa, Arizona.
