Biography
Kirin Kiki (born Keiko Nakatani) was a Japanese actress. She began her career in the early 1960s as a member of the Bungakuza theatre troupe under the stage name Chiho Yuki, later adopting the name Kirin Kiki. She appeared in numerous television series and films over six decades.
She was a frequent collaborator with director Hirokazu Kore-eda, appearing in Still Walking (2008), Like Father, Like Son (2013), Our Little Sister (2015), After the Storm (2016) and Shoplifters (2018). Other notable film roles include Sweet Bean (2015) and the voice of Haru in the animated feature Arrietty (2010). She received several Japan Academy Prize awards for her performances.
Kiki died in Tokyo on 15 September 2018.
