Biography
Konstantin Bock is a German director and film editor based between Berlin and Beirut. He studied applied film, theatre and fine arts at the University of Hildesheim and Jewish studies together with the history and culture of the Middle East at the Freie Universität Berlin. He has worked as an assistant director and stage manager on plays, opera and dance, and as a director and designer with the Canadian performance company Mammalian Diving Reflex at festivals and theatres across Europe, North America and Asia.
Bock directed and edited the short documentary Hattie Goes Cruising (2015), which screened at over thirty festivals including Hot Docs and was nominated for the 2017 Iris Prize. He served as chief editor on Nadine Labaki’s Capernaum (2018), which won the Jury Prize at Cannes; he co-edited the film with Laure Gardette. He is married to the film’s cinematographer, Christopher Aoun. In 2020 he was invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
