Biography

Kornél Mundruczó is a Hungarian film and theatre director. Born in Gödöllő in 1975, he trained as an actor at the University of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest, graduating in 1998, and later as a film and television director in 2003. He founded the production company Proton Cinema in 2003.

His feature films include Pleasant Days (2002), Johanna (2005), which screened in Un Certain Regard at Cannes, Delta (2008), White God (2014), which won the Un Certain Regard prize at Cannes, Jupiter's Moon (2017) and the English-language debut Pieces of a Woman (2020), which premiered at Venice. He has also directed episodes of the series The Crowded Room (2023). Mundruczó is additionally known for his theatre work with Proton Theater.
