Biography
Kristine Sutherland is an American actress. Born Kristine Young on 17 April 1955 in Boise, Idaho, she changed her professional surname to avoid confusion with another actress.
She is best known for portraying Joyce Summers, mother of the title character, in the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997–2003), appearing across all seven seasons. Earlier film roles include a secretary in Legal Eagles (1986) and Mae Thompson in Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989). She began in theatre and worked on stage during the 1980s.
Sutherland is married to actor John Pankow.
