Biography
Kunihiko Murai is a Japanese composer and producer. Born in Tokyo on 4 March 1945, he graduated from Keiō University in 1967 and began his career as a composer that year.
He composed the music for Jūzō Itami’s Tampopo (1985), for which he also served as music director and appeared in an uncredited cameo. His other film scores include Shogun Assassin (1980), Lone Wolf and Cub: White Heaven in Hell (1974), Hanzo the Razor: Sword of Justice (1972) and Zatoichi at Large (1972).
Murai founded the music publishing company Alfa Music in 1969 and the record label Alfa Records in 1977. As a producer he worked with artists including Yellow Magic Orchestra. He has written numerous popular songs and Olympic themes.
