Biography
Lance Gentile is an American emergency physician, television writer, producer and director. He graduated with a BA in psychology from Cornell University and earned an MD from New York Medical College, completing his residency at Maine Medical Center. He later obtained an MFA from the USC School of Cinematic Arts in 1990.
Gentile began working in television as a technical advisor and medical consultant. He contributed as writer, story editor, executive story editor, co-producer and director on ER (1994–1998), including writing the episode "Love's Labor Lost", which earned him a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series in 1995 and a Writers Guild of America Award. He also wrote the television film State of Emergency (1994).
His other television writing credits include episodes of Third Watch (1999), Providence (1999) and Dr. Vegas (2004–2005). Gentile has taught writing for hour-long dramatic series at USC.
