Biography
Lance Percival (1933–2015) was an English actor, comedian and singer. He first gained prominence in the early 1960s performing improvised topical calypsos on the satirical BBC television programme That Was The Week That Was. He later became known for voice work as Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr in the animated series The Beatles (1965–1967) and as Old Fred in the feature film Yellow Submarine (1968).
Percival appeared in numerous British comedy films, including Carry On Cruising (1962), The V.I.P.s (1963), The Yellow Rolls-Royce (1964) and Too Late the Hero (1970). He had further roles in Up Pompeii! (1971) and its sequels. Educated at Sherborne School, he worked in advertising and performed with a calypso group in Canada before returning to Britain and entering revue and film work. In later years he was a successful after-dinner speaker.
