Biography
Lara Shapiro is a writer and director working in television, film and commercials. Her writing credits include staff writer and the episode "Walter Taffet" on the FX series The Americans (2015), as well as work on Berlin Station and Impulse.
She began her career directing feature films, episodic television and commercials before moving into writing. Shapiro directed and co-wrote the 2009 film Labor Pains and an episode of Royal Pains. She holds an MFA in filmmaking from Columbia University and a BA from Cornell University, and teaches writing for television at the graduate film programmes of Columbia and New York University.
Shapiro has served on councils and committees of the Directors Guild of America and Writers Guild of America, and has received fellowships including from the Sundance Institute and the Sloan Foundation.
