Biography
Larry Hagman was an American actor, director and producer. He was born Larry Martin Hagman on 21 September 1931 in Fort Worth, Texas, and died on 23 November 2012 in Dallas, Texas. He was the son of actress Mary Martin.
Hagman was best known for playing Major Anthony Nelson in the sitcom I Dream of Jeannie (1965–1970) and J. R. Ewing in the soap opera Dallas (1978–1991). He also appeared in films including Fail Safe (1964), The Eagle Has Landed (1976) as Colonel Pitts, Superman (1978) and Primary Colors (1998).
Hagman directed episodes of Dallas and other series, and returned to the role of J. R. Ewing in the 2012 revival of Dallas. He underwent a liver transplant in 1995.
